Conversion lens settings HDR-HC1? Can't Post

Hello, when toggling between the conversion settings on the camera (with no lens, wide, or zoom attached)

it seems to make no noticeable difference. what is it actually doing? what happens if it is in the wrong setting?

I never noticed what it did either, but when I got my other HC1 in today, B&H had an instructional DVD about the HC1. I put in thinking WTH, they had some good shots in there. BUT, he mentioned that using these settings when using the respective lens attachment, helps the Image Stabilazation work more efficiently with that type of lens. Does it do anything different??? Dunno, haven't played with that part yet.
