Editing System Poll Can't Post

For those of you editing HDV regularly...

Are you using a software-only system (e.g., Vegas, Liquid) or do you have hardware acceleration? (e.g., Matrox, Edius NX).

If you're using software-only, do you:
1) edit native HDV files
2) use a digital intermediate (e.g., Cineform)
3) use proxy files (e.g., Gearshift for Vegas)?

Jerome, read this on the Sony forms and tought that it would be of interest to you.

Now that Vegas 7.0c is out, full compatibility with CineForm files has been restored. All users of CineForm media will benefit, from the users of the bundled version to, Connect HD 2.x and 3.x users. Now we can move forward again with more enhancements.

Connect HD 3.3 has removed the patches required for the older 7.0 versions, this improves overal compatibility with all video tools from Vegas 5,6 & 7c to After Effects. Also Connect HD 3.3 has improved decoding so that even less CPU is used for real-time playback under Vegas 6d & 7c, up to 40% less (with smart render mode off.) More real-time, more quality, all as a free upgrade to Connect HD 3.x users.

Get you update to Connect HD here : www.cineform.com/products/ConnectHD.htm

Note: For those using 7.0a or 7.0b, upgrade to 7.0c before installing the new Connect HD. For Vegas 6 users, you can directly install Connect HD 3.3.

Thanks. I actually just upgraded to 7c. I'll checkout the cineform upgrade too and compare the results with the new cineform update vs. sony handing the m2ts (which is much much better now). Thanks again, and when I get a chance to play with both and compare, I'll submit my results.

Software only, Vegas 7.0C.
1) Yes
2) With Vegas 7, I no longer need the Cineform intermediate.
3) No, tried it a couple of times but total workflow was way too slow.

Re: [videobear] Editing System Poll [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm using Edius software-only and either downsample to widescreen DV for SD-only projects, or capture to the Canopus HQ format when I want full HD quality. As I upgrade to more powerful computers I may start doing everything in the HQ format, but that's a bit of a hassle with my current equipment.
