External Light for Sony Z1 HD Cam Can't Post

OK... maybe I'm blind, or perhaps partially braindead, but I CANNOT find any power point to connect a light to my new Sony Z1 HD Cam. I am a man, and in spite of that fact, I even tried to read the manual for instructions and still could not locate anywhere to plug a light into the cam.

Somebody smarter than me please help!

Thanks!

You need an adapter to do this. The cam on its own doesn't offer a power connector.

Why would you want to. Sony makes a very nice cam light that works with a separate battery and it will go all night long. placing strain on just one of these L batteries with both cam and light probably not wise.

Hey!
Thanks for the help... I was certain that I wasn't blind. I just KNEW there was nowhere to plug in a light!

"Why would you want to? Sony makes a very nice cam light that works with a separate battery..."

I have been shooting a DSR 370 for some time, and the light simply draws its power from the cam battery, and that is what I am accustomed to. Obviously this will change with the new Sony HD Cam. I am just not thrilled by having to carry additional battery packs for lighting. But if that is what is required to get the job done, well, then, that is what I will have to do.

Thanks again!

Sony makes a small light that runs on the same L batteries as the camera. So though you do need to put a batt on the light, at least its the same kinds of batts as used on the camera, this is quite handy.

Thanks-

I will be ordering a light for the cam this week. I have an evening shoot in Savannah, GA, this Friday, just as dusk is setting in. I hate to have to "break in" a new piece of gear on a paying job, with only a day or so to get comfortable with the new equipment. But the cams and lights I normally would use are on another location assignment, so I have little choice.
