FX1 Virgin Can't Post

Have entered the world of HD and bought FX1.

Have a couple or queries

1. What deck do you use (PAL) that wont break the bank as I would prefer not to wear out the heads on the camera to capture either dv or hd

2. Does anyone have experience with Liquid edition 5.62 for editing dv from LE and what dvd authoring do you use to maintain the quality downloaded from the camera? Ulead Workshop 2.. dvdlab...?

If you're just shooting DV, then I think you could use any cheap camcorder as a deck. But for HDV, my understanding is that you've pretty much got to have a Sony HDV camera or HDV deck to playback or capture the footage in HDV.

I've been using my HC1 as both a deck and a backup camera at weddings. I bought it on clearance for $1250.00, which is significantly cheaper than any of Sony's HDV decks.

HTH!

Thanks Christopher. we will be converting back to dv for the time being so we are looking for a deck or camera that will convert from hdv. Is that what the hc1 does?

Hello again

We are using the century Anamorphic for establishing shots but not for "shoot and run". As you know there are issues about vignetting and end of focal length focussing but you get used to that like the compressed view in the VX2100 lcd. ( well nothing is life is perfect - like my cooking!)

However it takes time to flag the resultant vts file to 16:9, and now we have the FX1 the question is how we are going to combine both the fantastic images of the anamorphic (4:3) with the converted HDR from the FX1 on the same timeline and burn. That is the holy grail - to use both the VX2100 AND the FX1 without too much difference ( dream on!)

BTW your images are getting even more provocative :-)

I use my Sony HC1 for playback of HDV footage to either HD or downsampled DV capture. It also makes a handy portable HDV player if you have a reason to need that, like maybe for showing HD samples to customers at their location.

Do you use the HC1 as a second camera?
