FX1 running when camera off? Can't Post

I read somewhere that if you leave a tape in the camera and the battery is connected, even though the camera is in the off position, the drum is still turning. Does anybody know if this is true? I believe the person that said this actually had a Z1u and said he had done this and it put an extra 160 hours on his hour meter. Just curious if this is true.

The drum will stop running after a few minutes of non use to protect the tape and the drum. It will do this whether it's being used as a camera or a deck. I don't know the exact amount of minutes it will take but no more than five.

Not true. If the power is off, everything is off. However, if the power is on, and the unit is in Camera mode, and a tape is in the camera, the drum is spinning whether or not you are actually recording.
