yes. they are coming...i'm particularly interested in how the HDR-SR1 will match up with existing models (i.e A1ZU, HC3, etc).

Hello Everyone,
I was recently doing research in purchasing an HDV camera until this morning I saw this information in a WEVA message board about the new AVCHD format. I am attaching the links I copied. I am planning to put on the brakes on my near future purchase of an HDV camera.
Any thoughts?

Re: [LKvideo] New Sony HD Cams (AVCHD) [In reply to] Can't Post

Lou: the current AVCHD cameras are consumer-oriented models which won't affect the viability of HDV. Panasonic has proposed a more advanced AVC camera to ship sometime next year which might be more interesting, but then we'll have to see how practical and affordable that is. HDV works fine for what it is with some limitations in low-light situations, and won't be any less useful when AVC cameras are shipping. So if you're interested in shooting HD on a budget then HDV is the way to go for now, unless you have customers with more money to sustain using the Panasonic HVX200.
