Porn makers choose HD-DVD Can't Post

says there are 2 reasons
1. It is cheaper and there are a lot of xbox's out there
2. The Bluray camp are censoring content that can be put onto their disks.
Both these points affect videomakers in general. Worryingly, this isn't the first time that I have heard that small-run / home-made disks won't have access to all the features of the big studio disks or even work in all players.

Re: [Colvin ADTR] Porn makers choose HD-DVD [In reply to] Can't Post

This keeps popping up, but it's simply not so. BD cannot censor content on their discs. BD is indeed more expensive, and that may be what led to this story that is coming out of the AVN. However, the AVN has *not* chosen HD DVD, rather a small adult studio did an interview that has now gone viral and led to more being said. What's the BD consortium supposed to do now? They can't publically come out and say "This story is not so, the Blu-ray consortium does indeed, support porn..."
They can say, and I expect they will say, that the BD consortium doesn't filter/censor content on the format. Not only is it illegal for them to filter the content, it's also not smart.
However, if this story is (as I suspect it is) a move on the part of the HD DVD camp to discredit or sow seeds of discontent...it's surely working.
Additionally, there are *not* "lots of HD DVD players" out there. According to CES, there are approximately 30k HD DVD units out there, that's it. XBox does not come stock with HD DVD players, contrary to belief. Playstation does. There are more than 1M Playstations sold.
