Sony FX1 Mic Holder & wide angle lens? Can't Post

Hey all you FX1 owners...how have you solved the need to attach an external mic? Can the holder that comes on the Z1 be bought and mounted on the FX1? Also, what are you doing for a wide angle lens (zoom thru?)? I have had great difficulty finding these 2 accessories.

Thanks,
Scott

I have a Century Optics wide lens I use on my FX1 but it is not zoom through. I wish it was. You will have to spend more money for the zoom through but I feel it is well worth it. I have not had the need for an external mic but if I did I would connect it to the hotshoe using an XLR adapter.

I'm pretty much about to fall off the fence onto the FX1 side..Not so much for the HD part. The idea of being able to shoot in HD, edit and reframe as needed and output to SD is quite appealing as well as the 16:9 thing. Just looks more "correct" to me. Just my preference I guess. Between Shane, Daniel and the number of others on this board who love the camera, I was convinced to go check one out. Very nice camera to handle and seems to be laid out better in terms of button and knob locations. But, I want a wide angle lens for shooting indoors and I want to be able to mount my AT897 and the sony 10/20 light on it.

Cheers,
Scott

Forget the z1 mic holder. The first thing I did was unscrew it because it is too low and lets a long mic in view, especially with a muff on.

Aren't there any el cheapo $100 .3 fisheye Raynox-type lenses for the FX-1 camera?
Seems like all the lenses for the HDV cameras start at like 400 bucks and go up...even for the lenses that aren't focus-through.
Am I mistaken?

The trouble is that you need better glass to take advantage of the resolution. No point putting a crummy filter/lens in front.

That is right, the lens needs to be adaptable to HDV.

Another option for the mic is to get a mic holder adaptor for the light clip on top, or velcro for a light add on mic , or mount the other adaptor like you mentioned,

I have had great sucess using the Sennheiser mke66 shotgun on both my fx1 and Z1 u cameras, the mic is expensive (over $500) but the quality is definately broadcast pro sound quality.

Also If you use the external mic or line in , and need more or less boost, go into the menus and use the audio trim feature for better audio control and balance. I will aslo look into any of canons wide angle lenses and repost later, canons wide angels can be more affordable and work well.

Hey John! You just shipped me your dvd today! I won your auction on on eBay! Looking forward to studying them, they come highly recommended by more than a couple people who post here.

I already have an AT897 so that's what I want to mount on the FX1. I actually ended up buying the little azden shockmount that attaches to the 'shoe. I will probably end up with the sony wide angle for the FX1 since it is zoom thru to 10x. better than the century...It seems like I saw some Optex lenses that were supposed to work on the FX1 but I can't find the page I saw them on. It had a bunch of pics of it with macro lenses as well. If I find it again I'll post it.

Cheers,
Scott

I found it! It's Raynox...I didn't check prices but looks like they have a few lens specifically for the FX1 and Z1.

Just checked, no wide angle though, just fisheye. Pretty cool looking fisheye footage though..

Just found this, wasn't aware that century made a zoom thru for the FX1, i'd only seen the partial zoom lens
