Standoff plate for A1/HC1 Can't Post

These are nice for tripod users. 20.00, saves a lot of grief, IMO

Re: [DSE] Standoff plate for A1/HC1 [In reply to] Can't Post

Just got it in the mail today - VERY NICE.

Had some issues getting my Beachtek to attach underneath it, but got it resolved.
Also, it covers most of the battery release tab, but I'm still able to switch batteries with it still attached.

So now I've got this standoff plate under my HC1, a beachtek under that, and a bogen quick release plate on the bottom.

Overall - very solid and stable (and much better than the tiny 1 inch aluminum block adapter I was using before)

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this to anyone that has the A1/HC1. This thing should have been included in the box with the camera.

Completely agree here. I've since mailed the folks that make it, and asked if they could slot it. I'd also like to see taps for other devices to attach, since the block is fairly solid.
Can't at ALL beat the price.

Great post! Thanks for the heads up. Picked one up for the HC1. I had the little block spacer too but it made things a little too flimsy.

Now if only they made it for my 503s. I emailed them and they said they are working on it but... for now I'll just have to dismount it, replace the tape, remount it......

I am considering the A1U for purchase. Two reasons: one it is small enough for my SteadyCamJr. and two it is affordable. My concern is that the standoff plate will raise the camera up to off set the center of gravity. Does anyone know what I'm talking about that can share?

Once you attach the standoff plate to the A1U, wouldn't you just be able to re-calibrate the Steadicam Jr to compensate for the change in the center of gravity? I was able to do that with my HC1, the standoff plate and a glidecam 4000 in about 15 minutes.

That standoff plate is a definite must-buy.Smile

I'm the one that makes these. Thank you for the complements. The current version is a lot better about the easing access to the battery latch and the I/O doors.

Which BeachTek model are you using?

I have a web site now, at dm-accessories.com. I hope that mention doesn't break the rules here.

Re: [JeffDM] Standoff plate for A1/HC1 [In reply to] Can't Post

Thank you SOOOOO much for making these!

I'm using the Beachtek DXA-4 under your adapter
I had to open up the Beachtek and pull out the metal pin that is supposed to line it up with the camera, since it didn't match up to any of the holes on your adapter.
Works great though!

Thank you for the compliments. I started puting in holes for the alignment pin about two months ago so that sort of work isn't necessary any more.
