I guess I'll jump in here for a little help from you guys.
I have been editing with Vegas at my church, so I am familar with it. However, that has all been sd stuff.
I am now buying an FX1 for myself, and need to buy my own NLE.
I just ordered a Dell system with the following specs:
dual core 2.8
2 gig ram
80 gig sata system drive
250 gig seagate barracuda video drive
x300 128 video card
20" widescreen

I was planning to buy Vegas without much other thought, but you have me wondering about Canopus.
Does this computer setup work for Canopus?
How much would I expect to spend to get up and running?

Thanks for your help,

Craig

With a single dualcore you will beable to do GREAT things with SD and you will beable to edit your FX1 HDV Footage rullres and frame rate but it will not be the same as a dual Dulacore machine.

ALso you might want to add a second 250 and raid them.

Now these specs are basically true of ANY HD setup for any software.

As for the Canopus stuff?

You can go two ways... Edius alone or Edius with the NX

The NX gives you realtime analog conversion (SD not HD) and also DV and Analog out in realtime.

With the expansion card you will HD out in realtime also.

So, with all of that in mind I would contact a reseller to find out about pricing.

If you don't have one in mind try www.GuyGrpahics.com These guys are really good :)

Check it out and see if it is worth it for ya.

If you would like to talk PM me and I will call ya on my dime :)
