Z1-Question Can't Post

Just received my Z1 today (yipeee). Have only had time to play around for a short while. I can not work out how to change between 1080, dv and dvcam. The user manual says to go through menu-in/out rec-rec mode- But the menu simply comes up as DVCAM without an option to change this (although the rec mode stays in 1080i) I must have overlooked something, I remember fiddling with the same thing on a demo model in a shop without working it out then either. Looks like a fantastic camera, though. Now I just need something to film...Smile

Is there another setting for aspect ratio? I seem to recall reading that the cam will only do DVCAM when set to 4:3.

In the Global menu, you can set it to DV, DVCAM, or HDV/1080. That's where you'll want to set this. In the downsample on output, you'll only see DV and 1080.
Does that answer the question? Or are you wanting to do 16:9 in DVCAM? I think you can do wide in DVCAM, but I need to look. My Z1 isn't at home...but can look tomorrow.

Go to Menu > Camera settings. Based on the selections you choose, such as HDV, DV, DVCAM, will affect the aspect size. It's all in the same menu.

Yes! It works fine now. Thanks to all of you. It was of course just a silly little thing (like most are after you get it right)

Congratulations Kristian!!!
You will be very happy with this camera, I love my baby.
Let me recommend the HandsOn HDV, complete guide to the
Z1, you can get it from B&H
around 80.00, it's worth it. It sounds like alot but hey you already
spent almost 5K on the camera might as well get the most out of it.
I also got a monopod with the spread legs and the 501 head. WoW!
I am shooting up a storm ... very happy.
Good Luck to you, great buy!
