mini dv playback Can't Post
If I record 16x9 HD like on an fx1, will this tape playback and transfer firewire on a cheap mini dv camcorder SD 4x3.

Im asking because th mini dv vcrs are pretty pricey, and the cheap mini dv cams are not.

I will do this as long as I dont lose any of the quality of the original HD 16x9 tape.

Thanks for any insight into this

You CAN NOT playback a HD tape in a SD camcorder.

So, you can reocrd hs on a standard mini dv tape, but it wont playback on a standard camcorder?

Yes. It records to MPG2 and imports as M2T file and not AVI. The SD camcorder will not and can't decode the HD MPG2 stream.
