Anyone good with Carbon Copy Cloner? Can't Post

I had to replace the hard drive in my Powerbook. Prior to doing so I used CCC to backup my drive. I thought I made a bootable disk image (it was called "sparseimage" for some reason) and went ahead and swapped drives. Now when using disk utility trying to restore the drive I keep getting error messages that say I need to authenticate before restoring. I can't find any info on what this means and I'm at a loss for trying new things. I posted a help message at Mac NN but so far no one has had any good info.

So now I'm turning to my good friends here for advice. I still have my old drive. I can install it again and use some other back up program if anyone can tell me EXACTLY what to do.

I need help.

I am a mac tech at a school district with over 3,500 macs. Use Disk Utility and click on the Restore Tab at the top. Just drag the hard drives from the left column into the proper spots on right side. Your new disk you are trying to copy to will be the Destination and the one you are trying to back up will Source. Then click the restore button. i do highly recommend erasing and formating the new blank drive you will be copying to as your first step before actually doing the copy. plus when you erase and format you should name this drive with the same name as the your original drive. If you do this first, uncheck the erase box before slicking the restore button.

I think we'd all be very pleased if you stuck around!

Hey, I paid my $25 for membership last night, so I am here for at least 1 year.
