Anyone using iMac for FCP editing? Can't Post

I'm not making enough money to justify a professional editing system, but what I'm editing on now is hopelessly outdated. Having looked at new Macs, I've come to the conclusion that a refurbished iMac 24" for $1699 looks like a perfect match for me. Considering I do maybe 10 weddings a year at best, and I don't do HD, are there any reasons why I shouldn't buy this machine? Is anyone editing on iMacs, and have something to say about them - good or bad?

Another question: Will my old Mac native FCP 5 run on the new Intel Macs, or would I have to update to FCP 5.1?

Lars I have edited a couple of weddings on my Imac and thought it was much faster than I thought it would be rendering, etc. I had no problems doing the weddings from start to finish. Fcp 5 will not run on Intel Macs, you have to send in the installation discs, which was a pretty scary thing and then they send the upgraded discs.

Thanks. That's sort of what I thought. Now where did those installation discs go...Crazy

24" iMac is all I use to edit weddings, commercials and our tv show.
