Camcorder lifespan - Or bad dealer? Can't Post

What is a reasonable life span for a camcorder? I've had a Sony DV camera for 1 year, and recorded about 40 hours of footage with it. It has been non-stop defects with
the thing, (2 exchanges + 5 service calls, including a 90-day wait for a part that fixed nothing!) and now the store I bought it from is accusing me of using it for
"Commercial Purposes" and voiding the 4-year warranty!
Most of the defects started soon After each service call, and I have yet to have them actually fix anything. Even the loaner camera that they gave me is full of defects!
Should I expect to pay $2000 a year on camcorders? What else can I do?

You have a bad camera and your dealer doesn't sound so hot either. With any care at all camcorders will last 10, 20 or 100 times longer than yours. I would complain loudly to Sony.
Good luck and be persistent.

Complain directly to Sony - tell them the dealer service is rotten and you're getting the runaround. I've found them to be very responsive.
