Capturing 4 channel audio Can't Post

I'm trying to capture 4 channels of audio recorded on my XL1 into Premiere 4.2.1 via Firemax-C in a first generation G3 266 MT.
I know I have to capture in two passes and then discard the extra video track, but Premiere seems to be throwing away the second set of audio tracks before I even get that far.
Using my GV-D900 as a source deck, I capture a clip with the 900's audio mix setting all the way at the 'Stereo 1' end of the scale. Then I capture the same clip (different file name, of course) with the 900 set to 'Stereo 2'. While the clip is capturing I can hear stereo 2. But when I play back the clip - Stereo 1!
Has anyone imported all 4 tracks into Premiere successfully with a similar system? Right now I'm stumped...

Re: Capturing 4 channel audio Can't Post

Well, it might be Premiere's (4.2.1) inability to capture
DV audio with segregated channels. Also, the audio-out
monitoring you're adjusting on the deck is, I think, for
the analog-outs only - it might not be affecting firewire transfer.
For reference, I know that EditDV has several options to
capture DV audio channels. Without such options on the
software's end of things, you might be at the mercy of
Premiere's defaults.
You may want to try, just for kicks, capturing off the
XL-1 which, afaik, can output every channel independently.
(But again, I don't know if this is out firewire. :-))
