Color Correct for over exposure of one object.. Can't Post

Hi All,

I have a color correction problem I'm looking for a solution to...

I have a movng shot that has one element that is blown out. It looks like a huge spike at the right end of the scope. I want to reduce this one blown out thing to so it's not so brutal. Masking is out since it is a moving shot...I actually need to color correct it, make it a darker shade I guess?

I know this is the subject of the fcp tip in the recent event dv mag but my blown out object is circular not a horizon. Also gradiats to being blown out as opposed to how the example in event dv is a sky behind a group of people which creates a hard line to key.

Thanks for any advice!

Cheers,
Scott
