FCP audio problems Can't Post

I’ve run across a spot on my timeline that won’t play any audio, no matter what audio clip I place there. I though it was dropped frames at first, but even after importing two completely different audio clips, I still have this problem. The audio plays in the viewer and the audio meter shows activity also. When I play it in the canvas and on my external monitor though, I get no sound for about 27 frames. I’ve trashed prefs and still nothing. Any suggestions?

Hi Ivey,

Try copying the entire contents of the timeline and pasting it in a new sequence in the project. If that doesn't work try pasting it in a completely new project. When I get weirdnesses this usually clears things up. You also may want to try to raise the number of real time audio tracks in your preferences and mix down your audio.

I ran into this problem a few days ago. It turns out that it was a glitch in the video segment - everytime there was a stutter or glitch in the video, the audio would cut out for a second. Even if I deleted the audio track and replaced it with different audio (like from a CD), the audio would still cut out right at the glitches. You may want to examine the segment you have in your video track and see if there is any kind of blockiness or stutter that happens where the audio is cutting out. You may need to either use a different clip or recapture that segment.

Hope that helps

Thanks for responding. What I did on advice of others was to place a slug on the track above the click, slightly overlapping the bad area. I then adjusted to opacity to 0 and rendered. It now plays fine.

Your audio needed to be rendered, that was all. Double check the audio's properties and those of your sequence.
