FCP to --- BluRay ---? Can't Post

Just curious all you HD people out there - are any of you shooting in HD, editing in FCP and delivering in BluRay? Just wondered what the workflow would be and any other programs I might need to be using. I just got the FCP Studio 2 - couldn't tell if it works with BluRay or not, didn't appear to.

Thanks for any input!

no blu-ray support yet. I was very disappointed in this as that was one of the features I needed the most. It does however support HD-DVD on regular DVD media. It is in the manual on how to do this and I dont have my mac in front of me at the moment otherwise I would tell you how. You can currently fit approximately 30 minutes of HD content on a regular 4.7 GB DVD. THe only thing I can think of for Blu-Ray is to wait for Adobe Encore CS3 to do Blu-Ray when it comes out in July. Currently we shoot HD, and convert it to SD, however I have delivered a few h.264 HD movies to clients for projector screens at local churches.

I was under the impression that FCS had bluray support but that aple ddnt have blu ray burners. I know a couple other companies do sell bluray burners for mac- so maybe that would be an option.

DVD studio pro does not have support for Blu-Ray yet, As a matter of fact, DVD Studio Pro was the only program not to receive an update in FCS2. I read a while back that it could have something to do with the current apple graphics cards not having the digital copy protection chipsthat blu-ray and HD-DVD demand. I believe once Leopard comes out, we will probably see something on the HD front in the way of disc support. This is just one more example of how copy protection is more of a PITA to consumers, than an obstacle to a pirate. I find it funny that it takes the pirates just days to crack the encryption on a DVD, but it takes the copy protection cartel months to come out with a fix to the pirates crack.

One of our local Mac users ended up buying Adobe CS3 to author his Blu-ray discs, then encodes from there to a disc image file which he pulls into Roxio Toast software to actually burn the discs. I'm not sure exactly how he's running the software and communicating with the Blu-ray burner, but presumably either using BootCamp or Parallels.
