Hi Glen What Coded are you capturing in HDV or ProRes? I capture in ProRes 422. always have from day 1 after I stated capturing and editing HD. Just be aware, if you do capture in ProRes there is a bug where the OS identifies your ProRes Video Files as text files. (If you look tat the files in finder, they won't have an extension (they never have, even before SN and FCP7. However, finder will identify your video files as document files, and no other program will recognize your ProRes Files, not Color, Motion or even FC if you move the files. The workaround is to add the .mov file extension to all of your ProRes Captured Video Files. Now you don't want to do that manually, ProRes creates a new file overtime you start and stop the camera, and it does it from the begging to the end of the tape unless you chose not to capture the whole tape. I use Adobe Bridge, it takes care of adding the .mov extension in a batch operation very quickly. If you don't have Bride, there are other free programs that do this. If you don't capture in ProRes, skip the rest of this paragraph and to to the next one. LOL You'll love all of the new features in FCP 7. Multi-color tabs are very useful as well as the new speed tool. It nice to have your markers ripple edit with clips in your timeline. You can turn this new feature off if you wish. The TimeCode overlay is nice. I use it so my clients can get a better feel of the live edit as they monitor my studio cams. For what it's worth, I first upgraded my FCP and later upgraded the OS after it cam out, and I didn't have a bit of problems. If you need any assistance, I've been keeping up with most issues, but again for me, I really haven't had an problems. The biggest was with my PCIe eSata controller card, I had to buy a new one, but I was having problems with that old card from day one, so it's not SL's fault really. _____________________________ Ron Priest - Louisville KY Take a Virtual Tour of my Studio Apartment Sometime I Work Too!
