File Error During Render Can't Post

Good morning all.

I have a problem that comes and goes, but most recently came and stayed.
During the render sequence, I return to find that the render was stopped and the following message appears

File Error: The specified file is open and in use by this or another program.

It often takes 6 to 8 attempts before the render is completed. Granted, some of the renders may take an hour if they are allowed to complete uninterrupted, but this also happens on short renders as well.
It has happened periodically on all my mac's, but is now very frequent on my MBP, maxed on memory.

I wasn't able to find any help on the apple site.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Re: [bobmac] File Error During Render [In reply to] Can't Post

of course you need to reboot first. THen I would suggest trashing your preferences. here is a link to a very handy tool called FCP rescue which will trash restore, and backup your preferences file. (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/14729) If you are on FCP 5 there is a link to it on the related links page
