Final Cut 6 Bails when I try to launch on Leopard Can't Post

I'm running Leopard 10.5.2 and just installed FCS 6.0.1. It starts loading then bails. I get a message that says it may be a problem with the KGCore Plug in. Any ideas?

First try to trash the prefs. Always try that first.

The KGCore is a framework in the application. If you go to the app and right click and select show content and then go to frameworks you will see it. If you have an old version of the app on another machine you could try and put in an older version.

If you did an upgrade I would suggest doing a clean install of the app. I never trust upgrades for this reason. Too many apps get broken during updates.

I am using FCP 6.0.2 with OS 10.5.2 with no issues. The free update to 6.0.2 was supposed to fix some stability issues, so maybe it would help you (http://www.apple.com/support/finalcutpro/).

If that doesn't correct things, I can send you my KGCore.Framework Folder to replace the one you have in your Frameworks folder. It's only 108 Kb total.

Hi Allan,

I was really hoping that would do it. But no dice. I notice that it bails when "loading waveform" is taking place in the splash screen. Maybe that's a clue?

Ron I am pretty sure that you are going to want to a complete uninstall and reinstall of FCS.
This will be your best solution if trashing preferences and the 6.02 update didn't work.

I had to do a total reinstall when I updated my system to Leopard. As I had issues mainly with Compressor, but a few hiccups with FCP as well.

Hey Blake,

But this is an upgrade software. If I uninstall FCP and try to re-install the update, it won't find it. Does that mean I have to re-install my original first. Or can I uninstall both, reinstall the update, but use my original serial number? As far as uninstalling, do I just trash the application and prefs. Can I leave the media, or do I need to reinstall all that too?

I can't even find a KGCore.Frameworks folder on my computer. Is that a problem?
