Firewire card for PC laptop? Can't Post

Does anyone know if it is possible to connect to connect via firewire to a windows laptop? I am interested in finding a card or a whole laptop system, like the new G3, that is designed for this. I'd really appreciate any information you may have
Thanks,
Justin

Re: Firewire card for PC laptop? Can't Post

Are you asking because you already have a Windows machine? The new G3 with two firewire ports works great with Final Cut Pro. I don't know if there is an off the shelf video editing package for windows that works. I'm sure there is, but FCP is very nice. I would even call it an easy Avid killer. In fact there are some software features with FCP that blow the Avid off the map. I've been editing with it for a month and pout when I have to go back to the Avid. As far as storage, the internal drive on the G3 works, and the 37 gig firewire drive from ProMax works. The 37 gig firewire drive from VST does not work for video.....The on board audio is a little iffy, I use the little Sony converter box which is a little better audio, (and analog to firewire video conversion of course). Also, I have 384 meg of memory, though I did do a little editing right out of the box with the stock 128 meg, but it's not recommended.
