I was just blindsided by some compatibility problems when I upgraded my Mac 9500 to a G3. My salesman from ProMax didn't tell me, probably out of fear of jeopardizing a sale, that my peripherals - 2 scanners, a zip drive, modem and printer - need different connectors, about $70 a pop - to work with the G3, that is if they work at all. In some cases, buying a new peripheral isn't much more than just getting the cable. Moreover, my Minolta QuickScan 35 slide scanner will not work at all with the G3. Minolta tech support told me that the scanner's software "presently does not support its use with the G3... and that Minolta MIGHT update the software to allow the use of the scanner with the G3 sometime in the future."
Anyone getting a G3 should be aware of this situation.
