G4 Firewire and bad input from Sony TRV510

: I've had a Sony TRV510 for about 4 months and love it. The digital stills are great. You can check some out online at http://24.6.250.19/Current%20Clips/199911/19991119/catalog_1.htm
: I have a PC for inputing the stills, a Mac 6100AV (upgraded with a G3 board) and I just got a G4 PowerMac.
: When I input video via Firewire to Adobe Premier 4.0 I get very poor results. The image is much worse than when I input on the 6100 or the PC with Buzz input. I've also tried some shareware input programs for the G4 with the same results. The results show a kind of tiling with maybe 4 pixels combined. The instruction manual says that non Hi8 tape will produce a mosaic effect but I'm using TDK metal Hi8 tapes.
: This link http://www.dvcentral.org/DV-Beta.html discusses some DV compression artifacts that look somewhat similar, however I'm getting vertical as well as horizontal edges.
: Anyone get good results inputing from the TRV510 using Firewire?
