Getting around 2gig limit? Can't Post

Currently using beige 266 G3 w/ Premiere 4.2.1 and quite happy...
So, what successful methods are people using to get around the 2 gig limit? I do not mind breaking down my sessions and MAKE MOVIE files that are less than 2gig, but how do I cut those together and dump it back to my miniDV cam as 1 big movie?

I have the same question myself (with blue G3 and EditDV Unplugged). I am wondering if the problem just goes away with OS9 since it apparently does not have the 2Gig file size limit. Or, does the EditDV software enforce the limit anyway ?

Well, a bit more net searching reveals that EditDV 1.6.1 crashes OS9 (or is that the other way around ?). Refer to post by James Wigdahl at http://www.macintouch.com/m90_compatibility.html
Good thing I didn't rush down to the store an plunk down my $99 :)

Don't know if this relates, but I am also using the same Mac but with Premiere 5 (demo version that came with my Motodv card) and the way that the manual recommends getting around the 2 gig problem is to not create a single movie from the final assembled edit's but rather to play them from the time line. According to the manual that comes with the motodv card, the "print to motodv" feature sends the assembled pieces from the time line to the card and what ever is attached (in my example, my Sony TR 7000 camcorder)
It (the manual) actually tells you not to make a single movie, but that play back is fine as long as no single clip is larger than 2 gig.
Hope this helps

Well, you have to think of your *project* as the "one big
movie." The 2 gig limit isn't really preventing you
from making longer movies, just self-contained files that are
unnecessary if you're not changing the format of your video.
All the clips are at the 2gb limit, and the project references
them as it needs to play the project. The way you edit the
clips in the timeline makes it play like one fluid movie - all you need to do is render titles, effects, transitions, etc.
Then, print to video from the timeline.
If you get into working this way, you'll find it isn't
a "limitation" so to speak. Even Avids work this way.
And smaller files are WAY easier to deal with in regards
to drive maintenance, moving files around etc.

If I play directly from the timeline, I get an audio sync problem. The audio will drift out of sync within 3 minutes of program....
But perhaps that is a 4.2.1 bug that has been eliminated in 5.1......
