How do I create freeze frames without jitter? Can't Post

I'm working on a project where I'd like to freeze the image for a second. What is the proper way to do this, so that I can avoid getting those lovely images that "jitter", "jump", "shake", or whatever it's called? I tried de-interlace, re-interlace, freezing the image one frame later, earlier, everything. The only thing I have left to try is to create a freeze frame, export it to Photoshop, and then back into FCP.

Anyone know what I need to do/doing wrong?

Is it jittery on your computer screen or your external monitor?
Is it jettery after a FULL redering?

flicker or deinterlace
or my favorite "low pass" from CGM-online. (it isn't free but makes for very stable freezes and texts)
you could also try a one-percent guassian blur if you have a lot of issues with it.

Hope this helps in some way
