JVC GRDVL9800 w/iMovie: no fades, titles, etc on export	Can't Post

When I try to export movies from iMovie to a JVC 9800 everything works fine (including device control) except the effects. Where I have transitions, titles, fades, etc, the camera refuses to record, instead repeating the last frame before the effect.
I am running MacOS 9.0.4, iMovie 1.0.2, and FireWire 2.3.3.
I have heard about compatibility problems between JVC camcorders and Macs, is this one of those? Any workarounds?

I had a similar problem when I was using the ORANGE MICRO FIREWIRE CARD with my desktop G3. I got rid of the ORANGE MICRO and got a MOTODV package and it has solved every problem I ever had....
