Jerky motion with stills on FCP5 Can't Post

Has anyone noticed with FCP 5 any issues when keyframing motion with photos? Mine jerk around like crazy and are completely unacceptable to deliver. I am not doing anything differently than I have done in previous versions of FCP. What gives?

Bill go to: Sequence/ Settings/ Video Processing Tab/ Change "Motion Filtering Quality" to BEST

Also try: Final Cut Pro/ System Settings/ Memory and Cache tab/ increase the "Still Cache" size

See if those two things help.

Thanks Glen, a guy on the apple forums sent me something along those lines. I'll try it out. Apparently being able to select different qualities is new for FCP 5, I knew I wasn't crazy.

I do find it mildly amusing that you are now giving FCP support though.

I've been a FCP studying machine for the last month. I haven't even done any editing really- just studying the interface, workflows, and functions. I want to have as solid of a base as possible before I start cutting important projects on it. Wink

Nope, still crap results. I upped my cache and changed the setting to best for stills and they are still jumping around like crazy. Why can't they just leave things be that work fine?

I just took another look at it. I changed the stting on the old project and nothing changed except the red render bars now popped up. I wonder if I have to go re-animate every photo again since I changed the setting?

Update: I re-did one of the photo montages and it's no better, still jumping all over the place. Makes me dizzy to watch. I don't know what to do except re-install FCP 4.5 and use that.

Hmmm I'll have to try animating photos and see what kind of results I get. You simply using the motion tab right?

No, I am just resizing the image (with the wireframe on) and then using keyframes to animate.

I figured out what the probem was though. There is another option tab under sequence settings to select field dominance, I had it set on lower instead of none. The thing that is annoying though is that by deafault the quality is set to normal and the field dom. is set to lower. Even when I set it, save the file and exit and then re-enter the app it defaults back Mad Not sure why.
