Livefont text color change Can't Post

Does anyone know if you can change the livefont "script" from red to another color in motion?

Thanks

You absolutely can. Once you have the font applied, the color is in the properties.

Now, (as I re-read) if what you want to do is change the color while in Motion 2, it's pretty much the same, but it's more intuitive in terms of setting the desired color.

But, (re-reading again) if what you want to do is a color change while the text is moving ("in motion"), then you'll want to do that in the FCP timeline after creating an alpha channel in the LiveType project. One easy way to move the color around is to add the Color Corrector filter to the clip and keyframe the desired change. There are probably 6-8 other ways.

Super easy! Once you apply a LiveFont to a text object, highlight that text object, go to the Text tab in your Inspector window. Go to the Style tab there. Just click on the little box for the Face color, begin playing with color changes.

This allows color changes that don't put an unnessisary burden on FCP with added color filters. Plus, color correction in FCP can throw off the color of other areas of the Motion clip. I'd go with color changes in Motion for LiveFonts.

Are you sure you have done this in motion??
I tried exactly what you said and it is not changing it from the red color that is set with the livefont.

Yes, I did it to be sure when I posted, and I just did it again, in Motion. It's super easy! What specific LiveFont are you using? Some LiveFonts take to color changes better than others. One thing to remember is that LiveFonts have the color built in, so that changing the color is really applying a color filter. If your font is red, then moving the target in the color wheel to yellow won't make it yellow, but greenish. Some LiveFonts just don't handle color changes well. It's an imperfect world.

Ben's right, this is not that hard, but a long way from intuitive.

Select Script and apply it, then of course you meed to get down the timeline a bit because it's a "write on" font. Go to the Attributes tab in the Inspector window and either clicking on the little Color box or simply sliding the Hue control will cause a color change. What's odd is that the hue reference is "local" - it depends on the original color of the font... this should only be a problem if you need an exact match to a numeric RGB color. If that's the case, you can match by making a swatch of the color and using the color selector (magnifying glass) in the color picker. You should have a little app called Art Director's Tool Kit (it came with FCP3 & 4 if I recall correctly) that is very handy for determining exact color match.

Honestly, I HATE when I have to change something in a LiveFont.
