MAC DEAL or No DEAL Can't Post

PC user here.

Looking to making a small jump.

I'm think about buying a used MAC G5 1.8GHz Dual 1.0GB RAM
Won't be able to physically examine it for included Software till Monday 11.12.07.

With keyboard, mouse and (2) 20 inch Mitsubishi monitors.
$1,400 Trade not cash for 2008 Wedding to SUB OUT

Any drawbacks I need to be aware of?
Possibility of Ungrading Cores
Ram
Drives
FCP
Plan on buying MACBOOKPRO or iMac in Jan 2008

Thanks in advance!

Tim

Not sure about upgrading the cores. You could definitely juice up the ram. external drives will be a good way to go as that G% can only house 2 drive internally (I am pretty sure). It will run FCP without a problem. You will notice a hit when it comes to rendering.

Can't beat the price! I would do it.

It's an ok deal. I have seen dual 2.0 G5s going for $1,200 or less so I would keep than in mind.

There is a possibility of upgrading the cpus but, I would not bother as the speed difference between the two is not huge and since this is a dual 1.8, it is not the last iteration of the G5s so finding the right cpus for it might be tricky.
