MacBook vs. MacBook Pro Can't Post

Any recommendations? What do you use? Can the regular MacBook work Final Cut Studio well enough? Waht are the differences, aside from the screen size and processor speed? Because it seems like everythign else can be upgraded, such as the memory and the hard drive. It just seems like the regular MacBook would be more economical for being able to do the same thing.

Re: [JRVideography] MacBook vs. MacBook Pro [In reply to] Can't Post

I have both and use each for editing complete weddings.
The Macbook Pro was purchased to replace my older Titanium as my Same day Edit - On location editor.
It works fantastic for same day Edits.

When I want to edit a second wedding at the same time editing with the MacPro, I use the laptop.
In my opinion, There isn't any major difference as to what you can do with the MacBook Pro other than speed of rendering and hard drive size.

I know of other full time videographers that use nothing else but MacBook Pro's to do all their editing.

Hi,

I have both and there really isn't a difference in the 'snappiness' of the timeline. There are some tests that show its just as fast editing and encoding. The main problem I have is that the MacBook won't work with some filters, like Magic Bullet. The graphics card is below their minimum requirements. Motion works on a MacBook but its really sluggish because of the graphics card too.

You would be better off getting an older generation refurbed MBP from Apple than getting a Macbook. The video card is going to give you full access to the suite and the expansion on the MBP is also useful for storage.
