Mac mouse suggestions Can't Post

I'm almost embarrassed to say this, but I still use the factory Apple Mouse (along with a shuttle pro for editing). Am I in the minority? If so, any mouse suggestions? I know that right clicks take the place of "ctrl" clicks, but are there any other advantages that I am missing with my one button mouse? I am looking more for video production specific uses, but am open to all input.

A two button mouse will change your productivity while editing. My favorite is actually a trackball. I love my Kensington Expert Mouse. I never cared much for trackballs until I got this thing. I was starting to develop some carpal tunnel symptoms and started looking at some different mouse products. The expert mouse provides relief for your wrist and once you get use to it, you won't want to edit with out it.

When you say factory Apple mouse I presume you are not using the latest "Mighty" mouse? If you don't prefer that one (You can try it at your fav. local mac reseller) then there are a lot of alternatives. I have used several versions of the Microsoft Explorer mouse with the latest being their wireless laser mouse which works well for my MBP. Kensington mice are OK. It all depends on the shape you prefer. I do recommend the Apple mouse but I have found you either love it or hate it.

I agree GL. I use the mighty mouse along with a shuttle pro in my left hand. My workflow has skyrocketed with the mighy mouse. I love the lateral scrolling.

Shuttle pro is a must and as far as the mouse goes I would not overthink this one, as anything is better than any of the mouses apple makes.

I swear by these:

It took me a day to get used to it but that was many many years ago and I haven't used anything else since. Its a very natural action for your thumb. My favorite aspect of it is that you can use it anywhere - you don't need a flat surface. I'll often be sitting in a recliner with the laptop where there is no mousing area.

I never liked the feel of trackballs. Though people who use them swear by them. I have a friend who has the same logitech trackball he bought over 7 years ago!

Personally I like the dual action of a regular mouse and the srcolling wheel of the center mouse button (ie Mighty Mouse). As Bill said horizontal scrolling of the timeline is great. Then again you could just hold CTRL and roll your track ball "up" and "down" to achieve similar feedback in FCP.

Glen, Just FYI but the Kensington trackball has a scrolling ring on the outside of the trackball. It works great for scrolling the timeline and for web browsing. I never liked trackballs at all. But after forcing myself to use it for few hours I can't imagine not using it anymore.
