Mulit-cam for FCP 4.5? Can't Post

I've been editing my multiple camera shoots by just laying them both in the timeline and then reducing the sizes, putting one in the upper left and the other in lower right. I scrub through them and just slice out what I need.

By any chance is there a tool that I could use to make this any easier or is this as good as it gets?

upgrade to 5 or 6 and you will improve your workflow 300%. Editing is just a matter of syncing, making a multiclip, and then pushing buttons 1, 2, or 3 to select an angle.

I admit that it looks really great, but for my applications it's not worth spending what ... twelve ... fourteen hundred dollars?

Well, what are your applications? And what do you do with the smaller sized videos once you are all done cutting?

Multi cam weddings ... about four a year, dance recitals and live stage performances.

As for handling them now ... after I go through and cut, I then highlight both tracks, remove motion attributes to bring them back to full screen. Highlight track number 2 and pull them down into track number one.

But all I wanted to know was if there was something out there that might have proceeded all the FCP upgrades that provided multi-cam editing.

After some additional searching I think this might have been the product I was looking for. http://livecut.sourceforge.net/

It says on the Apple site that you can get the upgrade to version 6 for $500. In small print diwn the bottom it says you can upgrade all the way from version 1.

The only option that I see for myself is Upgrade from Final Cut Pro or Production Suite* $699.00

I might be looking in the wrong place.

Sorry about that. You have the right thing.

But seriously, the multiclip feature is such a time saver. I wonder how many people who claim I'm not making any money charging what I charge don't use the multiclip feature. I think if they did use it they would realize how streamlined the production process is and know that we don't spend very many hours on each video.

And dancing can be edited in double time because we don't have to be precise with where we place the cuts.

Final Cut Pro 6.0.2 is bloody rock solid. No crashes, whatsoever. Apple made a lot of improvements to speed and stability with the latest version.

Well 6.0.2 is the only version I've ever edited with, so I can't speak for past versions, but I agree 200% that FCP 6 is extremely stable! This is the way editing is suppose to be! I don't think Apple has been this good since Adam took the first bite!!

I still can't see any reason to update from 5.1.4 to 6. There just isn't anything I can't do that I need to do. Am I overlooking something?

There *was* a multi-cam app that worked directly with FCP but, digital Heaven discontinued it once FCP 5 arrived. If you really want multi-cam, I am afraid it's your only option other than work-around workflow approaches that are rather intrusive to me.

There are some people selling FCS2 upgrades on Amazon for around $500 BTW.
