My system seems to be going haywire! any thoughts??? Can't Post

I posted this on creative cow as well:

First the basics:

8core, radeon x1900, 8gbs of RAM, running FCP studio2 w/magic bullet v.2.

I am literally pulling my hair out... any help is much appreciated!!!

1. my project (editing HD in prores 422) all of a sudden is playing in the canvas as if it is unrendered (it stutters, etc.) even though it was fully rendered... w/blue line above it. played fine the other day! I double checked that I had full quality playback set, and sure enough I did. So then I tried to output it as a self contained QT movie just in case, but it just stalled and then said "general error". So obviously something is majorly messed up! So then, I went to step 2 which was to trash all the render files and just render the whole thing again. Then...

2. I got this error: (which I actually get ALL THE TIME... on my other editing systems too... and w/older versions of FCP:)

"AE Effects Error:
Rendering error using
"Misfire Vignette.bundle".
Verifty filter parameters."

(i use this filter a lot - but never in AE, only in FCP).

This error seems to pick and choose when it occurs. And it happens on ALL of our 6 editing systems and has happened w/all previous versions of FCP as well which is why, when I decided to look everywhere for an answer, I was shocked to find no information anywhere about this. Usually our "fix-it" is to turn the computer off for a bit, turn it back on and that seems to work, except not today.

3. After I clicked out of this error message, I noticed that some clips were "halfway" rendered. in other words, part of random clips had the blue line while the other part of a clip had a yellow. I tested the blue part and sure enough.. it still played back as if it was unrendered. (and yes, I have all the render options checked) What gives???

so then I tried trashing my prefs but I think they are somewhere different in FCP6.

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help!! :) :)

GREAT SYSTEM! I have the exact same one except mine has the AJA card for capturing from beta. Preferences trash is where I would start out. there is a great little utility callec FCP rescue that I could not live without. You can get it at http://fcprescue.andersholck.com/ It will trash the preferences for you, and the cool thing about it is that once you have FCP reconfigured the way you like it you can make a backup for the next time you have to trash your preferences. Like I said I cannot live without this app.

You also mentioned that the plugin always causes a freeze on your other 6 computers. You might get ahold of the company to see if they have an update. It could be a bug in the code or any other option you could choose to insert.

Hope this helps,

Hi Julie,

I've had that happen sporadically also. Never did figure it out - just stopped happening. Might want to check here for answers from the company:

got an answer for Red Giant:

Julie,

A) The cause for this error is either one of all of the following:

1. Upgraded from Magic Bullet Editors v1 and still have v1 files on your system.

2. Magic Bullet Editors 2.0 was at one point installed on your current setup.

3. Magic Bullet Editors 2.1 was at one point installed on your current setup

B) To fix this issue, you must uninstall all your Magic Bullet Editors files and re-install with Magic Bullet Editors v2.1.1. Magic Bullet Editors v2.1.1 is required for your current setup (Final Cut Pro 5.1-6.0).

C) View Magic Bullet Editors v2.1.1 installation instructions here:

D) For more information, please see the following FAQ:

+ I am receiving this error message: "AE Effects Error: Rendering Error Using Misfire '....'.Bundle. Verify Filter Parameters."
