News on Compressor 2 Can't Post

I was talking with Larry Jordan last night and he claims that the new UB version of Compressor 2 (as delivered in Final Cut Studio version 5.1) has been radically reworked internally and works very well. I haven't had a chance to verify this, but if you know who Larry Jordan is, you know why I felt it was worth mentioning. He's a highly respected trainer and FCP guru.

Gotta go - my system just broke and there are ones and zeros all over the floor! Tongue

Good to know. I have it sitting on my desk upopened since I got it with the 4.5 upgrade. I'll have to give it a whirl and see if it's better. Thanks.

No kidding? And the encodes looked good? No blocky problems on motion that everyone seemed to complain about?

Guess I better order the 5.1 update then.

Cheers,
Scott

The transitions have been fixed but there are still slight encoding artifacts in Compressor, mainly misplaced macroblocks.

I haven't tested another bug, but hopefully Apple fixed the bug with the monitor not going to sleep while Batch monitor is in progress. This problems have not been fixed for over a year.

Check to see if decreasing the bitrates slightly fixes this. I've always felt that the presets were a bit high.

I disabled all the automatic "sleep functions" and screensaver long ago... my system only takes a break when I tell it to!
