Renaming Audio Tracks In FCP Timeline ??? Can't Post

Four cameras, each with 2 audio sources, provides 8 different audio tracks.
Gets a little confusing sometimes keeping track of them. It would be great if each audio track could be renamed once in the timeline.
Has anyone been able to do it?

Hi Bob,

That's been one of my feature requests for years...

Bob, I don't know if there is a way to rename the tracks on the timeline. But you can assign a color label to the clips which will show up in the timeline. In the browser bin right click on the clip and at the bottom of the menu you will see label. There you give each camera clip it's own color. This could help you with all your audio channels because you can quickly see that camera 1 is red, camera 2 is blue or whatever color you want to give each camera. Hope this helps!

Yes, this is one of about 3 aspects of Premiere Pro that I miss in FCP. PPro will allow you to rename the track headers (as well as the clips names themselves).

I will also usually have from 8 to 10 tracks of audio per project. I'll have either 2 or 3 cameras with stereo tracks and and additional 4 tracks of audio via my Edirol R-4 recorder. Here is how I've started keeping tabs on each audio track.

As I lay out my timeline, I document each FCP sequence using project management Software. I'll simply list what audio track belongs to what source, and I can then easily refer to it when I start getting them all confused.

The software also provides for time tracking. I click open the clock when I start work on a sequence and click off the clock when I'm finished, or when I take a break. It may seem like a lot of extra work, but it's not really, not once you get a workflow. I'm looking forward to this next project as I will be able to finally determine just how long it really does take me to edit a wedding.

Awesome Ron.........Is that software available for Mac's and FCP? Never Heard of it.
I'll start researching that software, just wondering if one is recommended over another.

SlyBut then again, I'm not sure if I really want to know how much time I spend on a project. I already know it's way to long.

Hi Bob

The software I was referring to is AceProject.com. I'm also looking at another web based project manager from atTask.com. I haven't tested it out yet, but it's rated even better than AceProject.
