SImplest solution: VCR to G3 to VCR? Can't Post

Hello,
Sorry for the NEWBIE question, but what's the easiest way to copy a video from my VCR to my G3 (grey, 300 Mhz, OS 8.6). I just installed a USB port and am able to copy from VCR to hard disk using Videoshop, but before I spend more time learning Videoshop, IS there better software that I should be using??? Will VCR to G3 via USB back to VCR make GOOD copies of videos?
My goal is to make multiple copies of a rare video without having to play the tape over and over again. If I can get good copies by copying to hard disk and then back to multiple tapes, that's the way I'd like to go.
THANKS for any info!!!
