Slo mo HDV in FCP....? Can't Post

I am having a problem.....got HDV on a HDV timeline, apple "J" to change speed of clip to 50%, unrendered it looks slow...all good to this point. After I render the sequence (option "R") the clip appears to play at 100% again. Exporting the sequence as a QT movie the clip looks slow. Why, after rendering it does the clip not play slow anymore within FCP? Do I just have to not render? Seems very odd. I have tried all kinds of settings and I can't get this "feature" to go away.

Any help would be great.

Cheers,
Scott

Get FCP Rescue 5 (or "4" if you're not on FCP5.x), it's a free application. Use it to trash your preferences. Also, trash your render files and re-render if that doesn't work. I bet you're on a pre-v.5 version of FCP?

Nope...FCP 5.0.4. FCP Rescue didn't work, tried even reimporting and using a new project. Man, I was hoping this would be easier....

Lame.

What camera are you using?
Are you using the Easy Setup BEFORE you import/capture anything?
What model of Mac are you using, RAM, drive set up?

I shot with an fx-1, capture with the hc3. Yes I used easy setup prior to plugging in the camera. iMac G5 2.1ghz, 2.5gb ram, media and scratch on a fw drive.

Another note about the slo mo....watching the play head, the video stops about half way thru the clip. this makes sense since I slowed it down 50%. Visually on the timeline, the clip looks slowed down as far as it's length but what I get when I watch it (after rendering) is at 100% speed.

Cheers,
Scott

"hc3"? What's that? Contact me off board. You may have something more complex than what we can cover here.

The Sony HC3 is just that tiny sony hdv cam I'm using instead of a deck so I don't destroy the tape mechanism on my fx1s.

Scott

If you go to Sequence > Render All, make sure EVERYTHING in that list has a check mark by it. I bet some aren't. Or try trashing your render files (Tools > Render Manager) and re-rendering stuff. I also recommend, if your hardware supports it, the 5.1 upgrade.
