Something Super Secret Can't Post

Apple promised something super secret at the FCP User Group meeting tonight and they gave FCP users Redcode support. Are they frickin' insane? This has been the worst week of Apple news I have ever seen.

A laptop that is overpriced and underpowered, a bunch of software updates so that Apple can sell me more crap, a back-up appliance(?), and now support for a camera that nobody owns. Somebody stick an ice-pick through my head. Please.

Re: [Kenneth] Something Super Secret [In reply to] Can't Post

Actually, Apple didn't promise anything "super secret". That was Michael Horton's traditional verbage and it seems to have blown up on the Apple internet forums.

This is a quieter Macworld for sure and I don't expect anything earth shattering in April either but, we may be surprised. They have had an active last couple of years with the Intel switch, iPods, and the iPhone. It sure makes this stuff look a little tame.

Of course, native Recode for FCP is very cool for Red users however.

The 8 core 2.8 is certainly the bargain of the workstation world. They delivered nicely on that front.

You must be joking or my joke sensor is seriously malfunctioning.

AppleTV HD movie rentals... hello!?! That's a game changer, dude. You'd have to be living in la-la land not to see how revolutionary it is.

MacBook Air... that's revolutionary too. Svelte and ultra-portable. You want firewire, ethernet and DVD drive, get a MacBook Pro.

Time Capsule... the missing piece in effortless backups.

I think Macworld was exceptional.

Not revolutionary, but evolutionary maybe. Sony has had teeny tiny laptop for years. How is Apple doing anything new? It also has a very limited market. It's under powered for video or photo pros. It's over priced for students. This will be popular with people on the train from Jersey to their jobs in NYC.

Movie rentals, lat time I checked Comcast has movie rentals the same time as they are released on DVD, not 30 days later. HD? Comcast has many of those movies in 1080i. Apple TV is maxed out at 720P.

i really like what Apple is doing with the ITMS. I bought a 5 GB iPod within 2 weeks after they were released. There is no bigger iPod fan than me. I like having music, movies and TV shows on there. I even offer clients iPod version of their weddings at no charge.
But this was not an announcement for MacWorld.

Adding services to get my money is not revolutionary.

Actually it's a wide-spread misconception- the highest resolution Comcast brodcasts is 720p. All the the Comcast HD channels, HD on-demand, and HD pay-per-view events are 720p.

Are you sure? My TV tells me that the HD programming from Comcast is 1080i ... but then again, maybe my TV just labels all HD the same way ...
