Sonic Solutions vs DVD Studio Pro Can't Post

Hey all,
We have a 6 year old (yet barely used) Sonic Solutions Desktop DVD system we're not sure what to do with at this point. One reason for possibly selling it is that from our perspective it has a pretty cryptic interface and the one person in our company who knew how to use it left the company about a year ago.
Do any of you folks feel that there are any significantly greater capabilities in the Sonic system capared to more standardized apps like DVD studio pro or Encore DVD that might make keeping it around worthwhile? It's a pretty esoteric package of pretty high end items; oddly enough there doesn't seem to be any hardware/software combos like this on ebay, could any of you suggest a marketplace where it might draw more interest?

At 6 years old, even a Sonic system will have limited appeal.

Sonic Scenarist is highly respected in the PC authoring community, even at twice the price of DVD Studio Pro. Both are pretty much as good as it gets without getting into 5-figure software price tags.

If you feel that you don't need the quality or "esoteric high-end items" then there are a lot of decent DVD authoring systems. I am not aware of anything about Encore DVD that puts it in the Scenarist/DVDSP class, in fact I don't even think it's a "weapon of choice" for that many users; I think it's just what comes with an Adobe Bundle.

In terms of your current system, you could try to ebay it, just don't expect to get a lot; it's a 6-year old system and the world has changed a lot. You can get a new iMac Core Duo with Final Cut Studio (which includes DVD Studio Pro 4) for a little over $3K and be an order of magnitude faster with more capability.

Thanks for the reply. Just so we understand each other this actually is the 5 figure hardware/software you're talking about (or at least it wasTongue!! That's lif on the Bleeding edge for ya!) Here's an actual look at the system:

Again, I'm not sure if e-bay is the ideal marketplace for a turnkey system like this; any other places I could shop it that anybody knows of?

Enjoy!!!

Actually, I referred to 5-figure software (only)...

Looking at the system, the thing that stands out as a possible "find" is the hardware encoder. Everything else was the hot ticket but is now multiple generations behind. This doesn't mean it's useless or without value, it just means it's going to be hard to find it a good home.
