Sony TRV8, B&W G3, firewire, and ???	Can't Post

I am a beginner to the world of desktop video. I have a Sony TRV8, a B&W Mac G3, and a firewire cable. What else do I need to get up and running?
If I get a software program like Premiere, will the TRV8 appear in the devices list? Is Quicktime Pro 4 a candidate for capturing video?
