Soundtrack Pro Can't Post

Hi all,

I just purchased Final Cut Studio after using FCE Express 2 and then FCE HD for the last 2 years. What a change to be able to keyframe filters etc.
Anyway, one of the big things for me was the Soundtrack Pro feature, to sweeten up audio, fix some glitches, maybe filter out some unwanted background audio. Watching the tutorial on the Apple site it looks so easy, control click the clip and it open in Soundtrack Pro.

Anyway, when I try to do this, it doesn't work. When I send a clip to SP, it asks me to save as a xxx [sent] file, then SP opens. It also opens the entire sound clip.

Does anyone have a quick tutorial on the proper procedure to open a "clip" in SP so I can then edit, add sound effects etc.?

Thanks.
Sean.

No quick tutorials for you...but if you set an in and out point on the timeline (around your clip) and select it, then control-click & send to STP.

I agree with DepMode about the RTFM (Read The Freakin' Manual) issue in you haven't used this environment before - there's a lot to learn to use it well.

As far as getting effects to "stick", you'll need to bounce them before saving. Look in index of the Online Help files for "bounce", then read the rest of the subjects. Smile

I demo this in my seminars all the time. It is very easy and quick. I actually learned it in about 5 minutes watching the video Apple has on-line.

When you send the audio file out to STP, fix it up in STP, then SAVE it FIRST before quiting. Then when it closes and you're sitting there looking at FCP, the fixed audio is a seperate asset in your Browser, and the audio in the Sequence is already replaced. And your "original" clip's audio is untouched. This is "non-destructive" editing.
