Check your AV presets and make sure that you're you have the correct protocol selected. There are several levels of FireWire comm. depending on your device. Also make sure you Refresh A/V Devices (Command+F12), then select the timeline or Canvas window and all should be well. "Unknown device" is the normal descriptor for many decks - drives are usually set up to provide more definitive info, decks usually aren't... A number of people I know had oddities in their presets in FCP5/Tiger after the upgrade, so don't take anything for granted - verify anything that seems odd. One friend found his sequence default specified the wrong field dominance... ______________________________________________________________ Currently on a loaded 2.5GHz G5 dualie/5GB/1TB internal RAID/dual 19" monitors.
