Hey,

I tried the trial. It does everything in a click but I wish it was possible to convert it on the fly, from the DVD to the blank. I was hoping it could. As it is now it's like my method: makes a VIDEO_TS on your hard drive and then makes the copy. Its nice that it gives you the option to save the VIDEO_TS rather than trashing it automatically, but my drive is so full sometimes I don't have space to cache the VIDEO_TS.

Yeah I have both of them and some other program Bill Kinkle told me about that takes the Mac The Ripper Video_TS folder and removes all the add-ons to make it fit on a single DVD-5 disk.

I like FastDVDCopy4.0 because it does EVERYTHING with a single click. No two step proceedures. That is, of course, in regards to making a DVD copy not an MPG4 version.

On the fly is impossible considering it's decoding the CSS copyright protection. Angelic

Agreed though- there is merit in having a fully ripped Video_TS at your disposal. Thus the reason I STILL have Mac the Ripper. Be sure to get Kill the Ripper. It's a script that deletes the hidden folder that archives all the discs you've ripped. That is, of course, if your the paranoid type.

Another program Bill introduced to me is Cinematize. It allows you to rip scenes from a DVD right into editable QT files for FCP. Smile

Lots of Mac goodies out there- you, my friend, seem to be the one most on top of them all!

Streamclip is great for that too - indispensable for a lot of conversions. I use it a lot to 'de-mux' DVD's that need a menu tweak after I've dumped the encoding resources. Free and very versitile:

(Geek warning) I used it to convert 7 DVD's of the 120 1960's Batman TV episodes to the iPod format. It was easier than it sounds and just took a few minutes to set up each disc.

How well does it work Bill? I've noticed with MacTheRipper I've been getting some bad block errors and the ripped disc won't play. Off topic: Have you messed around with XTorrent yet? Free (for now) and fun:

Hi Joel,

It works great. That being said however, I have been noticing the same thing with MTR. I am not sure if the studios are placing bad VOB's on purpose to deter theft, but MTR has been having a bit of trouble ripping certain dvd's.

DVD2OneX only compresses and burns the dvd's, it doesn't rip them. My current workflow is rip with MTR and compress with DVD2Onex

I'll give that app a try. Glen has a new app. that he seems to like. I may give it a try once I get better feedback from Glen.
