USB Flash Drive - Initialize MS-DOS? Can't Post

Hi all,

Picked up a 2GB USB Flash Drive and attempted to reformat it from MS-DOS to Mac OS Extended. The drive wouldn't mount after I formated it and the only way to get see it was to use SpeedTools DrivePC to format it back to MS-DOS. Now it reads that it is a 1 TB disk (?!) and it crashes Disk First Aid if I try to repair it. Its a Kingston DataTraveler - supposed to be Mac compatible. Any cures to get it to act normally?

What brand is it? Go to their web site's support section. I'm sure there's something there somewhere about this issue.

Hi Ben,

Thanks for the reply! I got it figured out - it was a defective drive. Its a Kensington DataTraveler. I was able to have a cross-shipped replacement within a few days. They new one initializes as Mac Extended as it should. Decent transfer speed too.
