Re: Video Capture cards for B/W G3 Can't Post

I'm looking for a video capture package too...
A gizmo to digitize analog BetcamSP footage for import into imac DV OR beige G3 266 (obviously if I need a PCI card it will be the G3, but they're coming out with all these USB gizmos for imac...)
I see ads for the new XLR8 "Interview" with StrataVideoshop but get the impression this is for web-caliber video, not for broadcast... I want to get as close to real broadcast quality as possible. I'm trying to do both broadcast quality hybrid analog-DV projects and webcast-quality stuff with the same package.
I produce a broadcast/cable TV show on BetacamSP but recently got the JVC GY-DV500 and hope to integrate the DV footage with BetacamSP footage...
I need as high quality as is possible for under, say, a few tho.... I'm probably going to edit on imac with Premiere 5.1, having quickly discovered that imovie is a toy for amateurs.
I know I can get a Media 100 with the DV option, but is there anything cheaper that approaches broadcast quality -- that's the question. And can I use my new imac DV or will I have to stick with PCI card based digitizing.
Help!! I'm at sportbiz@voicenet.com and I'm checking this board, too. Thanks, folks.
