What do you set your upper track opacity to and gaussian blur lower track to ? Can't Post

Hi,
When you put a Gaussian Blur on video, what are your settings in Final Cut?

I know you duplicate the video and bring it to track #2.
What do you set the opacity to on V2?
What is a good number to set the Gaussian Blur to on V1?

Thanks

I don't use the soft focus effect but if I did I would reverse it. Have V2 have the guassian blur. Experiement with percentages and choose something that looks right to you. Usually it's 50% or lower.

Sorry Glen, Marco wrote this when I wasn't looking. I'm do our editing and he likes to see how other people do things. (He seems to like to verify I know what I'm doing, but it's ok because I'm usually right Wink).

I like the gaussian blur because it give the final video a softer look. The sharp look on the DVD looks a little home movie'ish to me.

I copy my footage onto V2 and put a 20% gaussian blur and a 20% opacity on that V2 track.

I do have another question for you, when you film in HD, does it pick up slight imperfections on people. I have heard that when tv shows are shot in HD, the actors are getting airbrushed? Is this just a rumor or can you see slight blemishes/imperfections in the makeup?
