New WD "Veloci"RAPTOR drive. 10,000 rpm, 2.5" drive made to fit a 3.5" slot (w/integrated heat sync)....

I always thought the WD Raptor drives would make an awesome boot drive but at 75 and 150 gigs, were a little short on space. This new 300 gig model might be the ticket.

Odd that they are using a 2.5" drive....goes to show you the laptop sized drives are no joke!

I don't really see the need for a fast boot drive anymore.... My macpro boots in about 10 seconds... certainly not worth that premium for such a small drive... You can get almost 2 TB for the cost of that drive...

The old raptors worked just fine in the Macs so, I see no reason why this wouldn't.

Update: It does NOT fit, at least without case/sled alterations. I don't know from experience, I just read this. I opted for the WD 6400 drives whch are blazing fast and super cheap @ $89 each (OEM).
