You Tube compression Can't Post

What have you found to be the best way to compress video to be uploaded to YouTube? I am having varying results and was curious if anyone has found the sweet spot.

you may or may not use FCP, but there is some great info in this article:

Basic principle is that you have 10 minutes of content, and 100MB to do it in. you need to calculate your bitrates to make sure that your file is as close to 100MB as possible. ALso Quicktime H.264 is the best format for getting them uploaded to youtube, because ultimately it is being compressed to flash/h.264 anyway.

I have heard rumors that things are about to change. You Tube is going to be switching to the h.264 codec through Flash and start using larger dimensions for the videos. I do not have any concrete evidence but don't spend a lot of time right now tweaking things until we get a final word on this.

In a week or two it may not matter.

Thanks guys thats good advice, Ill wait it out and see. I tried uploading a fw clips with various different compresison styles, flash, h.264 etc and got weird results. Green lines down the images, the video playing twice as fast as the audio for it, just weird stuff. You can see what I mean here:
